Seminars, Conventions, and Workshops

Conducting Seminars, Conventions, and Workshops is a major activity of the Institute. Many of the same have been conducted in the past from State level to International level.

  • Bharateeyam – State Seminar on Indian Culture in April 1997.
  • Workshop on Vastuvidya in March 1998.
  • Seminar on Konkani Language in October 1998.
  • Prasadam – National Seminar on Temple Arts and Architecture in October 1999.
  • National Seminar on Konkani Literature in November 1999 in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi.
  • Seminar on Jeernodharanam in May 2001.
  • Vastuvidya National Convention for 2 days in April 2002 in collaboration with Vastuvidyapratishtanam, Kozhikode.

  • Four-day International Conference on the History and Heritage of Mathematical Sciences in Dec’02
  • Full-day Seminar on the Practical Aspects of the Traditional House Construction of Kerala – November 2004.

  • Workshop on Conservation of Manuscripts – January 2005, under the auspices of National Mission for Manuscripts, in association with Mural Painting Conservation Research & Training Centre Trichur

The Institute has also Co-sponsored several National Seminars

  • Collaborated with Bharatiya Vichara Kendra to organize a Seminar on Kerala History
  • Hosted a U.G.C. sponsored National Seminar on Image of India in World Literature, organized by the Dept. of Foreign Languages, Cochin University, Cochin in December 1998.
  • Hosted a U.G.C. sponsored National Seminar on Comparative Literature, organized by the Dept. of Foreign Languages,Cochin University, Cochin in January 2000.
  • Hosted a U.G.C. sponsored National Seminar on Folk Literature-Comparative Perspective, organized by the Dept. of Foreign Languages & Centre for Comparative literature, Cochin University, Cochin in March 2002.
  • Hosted a U.G.C. sponsored National Seminar on the Role of Culture and Heritage in Literature, organized by the Dept. of Foreign Languages & Centre for Comparative Literature, Cochin University, Cochin

Felicitations and Remembrances

The Institute is always happy and proud to acknowledge the achievements of all who are, or have been, associated with it. They have been felicitated from time to time on appropriate occasions. Remembrances of our great leaders have also have been duly made at appropriate times.

  • Dr. S. N. Padiar – Principal of Dr. Padiar Memorial Homoeopathic Medical college, was honoured. The present expansive land for the Institute was donated by him.
  • Dr. Dayanand V. Kamath – Noted philanthropist, was honoured. Institute’s ‘Sree Sukrtindra Hall’ was donated by him.
  • Prof. R. Vasudevan Potti – Recipient of Govt. of India President’s Award for his contributions to Sanskrit, was felicitated in March 2002.
  • Dr. V. Govinda Shenoy – Recipient of ‘Rahul Sankrityayan National Award’ for contribution to Hindi Literature, was felicitated in July 2001.
  • Sri. N. Purushothama Mallaya – Crusader for Konkani and President of GSB Mahasabha, Kerala.
  • Prof. N. Swarnalatha – Former Director of the Institute, and Retd. Professor of Sanskrit.
  • Prof. R. K. Rao – Winner of Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize for Konkani, and Director of Konkani Language Institute.
  • Sri. K. Purushothama Pai – Eminent Sanskrit Teacher, and Editor of Konkan Janatha, Venkatavani, etc.
  • Sri. Saratchandra Shenoi – Recipient of Sahitya Akademi’s Award for Konkani, was felicitated.
  • ‘Shenoi Goembab Asmitai Varsh’ – 125th Birth Anniversary of ‘Shenoi Goembab’, the pioneer of Modern Konkani Literature, was observed with a public function and Seminar.
  • Sri. K Gokuldas Prabhu – Recipient of Sahitya Akademi’s Award for Konkani, and also Sahitya Akademi’s Translation Prize for Konkani, was felicitated on the above dais.
  • Dr. K. Chandrasekharan Nair – Recipient of President’s Award for his contribution to Sanskrit, was felicitated in 2013.
  • Dr. L. Suneetha Bai – Winner of Sahitya Akademi’s Translation Prize for Konkani, was felicitated at the Institute.
