SEMINAR on VRIKSHAYURVEDA

Dear friends,
As you may be aware, Vrikshayurveda, the ancient Indian Plant Science is a treasure house of information that finds applications in several areas like agriculutre, ecology, etc. This knowledge system is yet to be fully explored with the object of finding out inputs to integrate it to current era.
Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute which has contributed significantly to Indological studies for the last fifty years, is organizing a One-day Seminar on “Perspectives on Vrikshayurveda”, which is expected to kindle interest among scholars and learners of Sanskrit, Ayurveda, Botany, Indian culture, etc. in the subject. The Seminar which is being organized by the Institute in collaboration with H.H. Shrimad Sudhindra Tirtha Swami Charitable Trust, Ernakulam, will be held in the Conference Hall of the Institute on 3rd September 2022, Saturday.
Dr. N.C. Induchoodan, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests (Retd.) will inaugurate the Seminar and Dr. P.M. Varier, Managing Trustee and Chief Physician, Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal, will deliver the Keynote Address. Well-known Sanskrit scholar Dr. V. Ramakrishna Bhat also will participate in the Seminar. Prof. R.V.Kilikar, President, Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, will preside over the Inaugural Session. Papers on topics related to Vrikshayurveda will be presented by Scholars.

Inaugural Function of the Fourth batch of Nyayabodhini course of  Ernakulam Centre  was held at the premises of T. D. Temple Ernakulam,  on Sunday 10th July 2022. Dr V Nithyanantha Bhat Director Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, participated in the Function representing the Institute and addressed the gathering. The Certificates for those who pass the course are being issued by the Institute.

Programme organised by Sri K. Padmanabha Bhatji Parivar Mandal, to honour Payyanur Ramesh Pai and Dr V Nithyanantha Bhat (Director, Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute), the author and publisher(on behalf of Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute) of the Institute’s publication ‘Vedamurti K Padmanabha Bhatji Jivitavum Sadhanayum’ respectively, at Sree Venugopalakrishna Swami Temple, Chendamangalam, on 9th July 2022.

Inaugural Session of the ‘Nyayabodhini’ course Batch IV Shikshak Training Programme was held at Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute on 26th June 2022. The programme was organised jointly by Gowda Saraswata Brahmana MahaSabha -Kerala and H.H. Shrimad Sudhindra Tirtha Swami Charitable Trust. We are happy to inform you that a new Library named “Shrimad Sudhindra Tirtha Saraswata Library” has been started in Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute founded by our Dharma Guru Shrimad Sudhindra Tirtha Swamiji. The Library, inaugurated by the divine hands of Shri Kashi Mathadhipati Shrimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji on 26th May 2022 in the Sabhakaryakram organised in connection with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Institute, is meant exclusively for books, journals, magazines, souvenirs, manuscripts, CDs, etc on Lord Vyasa, Shri Madhvacharya and Dvaita Vedanta, History and Culture of GSB Community, Shri Kashi Math Samsthan and Guruparampara, Konkani Language and Literature, and so on.

We request you to contribute your best for the development of the Library by providing Books, Souvenirs and other printed material, and also Manuscripts and CDs on the subjects mentioned above. BOOK RELEASE FUNCTION

The book titled ‘Vedamurti K. Padmanabha Bhatji : Jivithavum Saadhanayum’, researched and edited by Sri Payyanur Ramesh Pai and published by our Institute with the blessings of Shrimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji, as the 7th Golden Jubilee publication and 86th publication of the Institute will be released on 15th May 2022. The Release Function will be held at Sree Rajagopalakrishna Swami Temple, Kodungalloor, at 11.30 a.m. Late Vedamurti K. Padmanabha Bhatji was the former Tantri of the said Temple.
 

Latest Events

The Institute participated in the Kochi International Book Festival 2022, held at Ernakulathappan Grounds Durbar Hall Road, Ernakulam, Kochi. From 1 April to 10 APRIL ’22. The Institute put up a Stall at the Festival Venue to display its publications for sale. There was  good response from the visitors of the Stall. A number of renowned personalities visited the Stall. Pictures of some of them are shown among the pictures below. The Hon. Director of the Institute, Dr. V.Nithyanantha Bhat, Hon.Director of the Institute (Former President and the present Advisory Committee of the Book Festival Committee) had the privilege of honouring two of the most important Visitors of the Book Festival – Sri Walter J Lindner, Hon’ble German Ambassador to India, and Sri Venu Rajamony (Former Indian Ambassador to Netherlands) by presenting Mementos, on behalf of the Book Festival Committee.

Some Aspects of Indian Cultural Heritage – by Dr. V. Nithyanantha Bhat

The 6th Golden Jubilee Year publication of Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, Kochi, titled ‘Some Aspects of Indian Cultural Heritage’ authored by Dr. V. Nithyanantha Bhat was released on 3rd April 2022 at the Kochi International Book Festival 22 at Ernakulathappan Grounds Ernakulam, Cochin, in a well attended Function. The book was released by Dr. Ajay Kapoor, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth Deemed University. The first copy was received by Swami Bhuvanatmananda, Head, Ramakrishna Math, Vyttila, Ernakulam. The Function was presided over by Prof. R. V. Kilikar, President, Governing Body, Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute. Sri Payyanur Ramesh Pai, Former Chairman, Kerala Konkani Sahitya Akademi, welcomed the gathering. ISAVASYA-KENOPANISATTUKKALUDE MADHVABHASYAM – MALAYALA VYAKHYANA SAHITAM (Malayalam)

An invaluable Commentary written by H.H. Shrimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji
The fifth Golden Jubilee publication of the Institute titled ‘Isavasya-Kenopanisattukkalude Madhvabhasyam – Malayala Vyakhyana Sahitam’ (Malayalam) (Translation and Commentary of Isavasyopanishad and Kenopanishad Madhvabhasyam) written by H.H. Shrimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji was released by Swamiji at Cochin Tirumala Devaswom Temple on 14th November 2021.

H.H. Shrimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji released the fourth Golden Jubilee publication of Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute titled ‘Aspects of Education:An Indian Perspective’ on 15th October 2021 Vijayadashami Day.

VAYUSTUTI OF SRI TRIVIKRAMA PANDITACHARYA WITH SUVARNAMANJARI OF KANTARA RAMA (Malayalam)

VAYUSTUTI, also known as HARI VAYUSTUTI, is one of the famous stutis composed by Sri Trivikrama Panditacarya in praise of Vayudeva and dedicated to Sri Madhvacharya, the third incarnation of Vayudeva and the Founder of the Dvaita School of philosophy. It is believed that when Sri Trivikrama Panditacarya presented his work, Sri Madhvacharya instantly composed Sri Narasimha Nakhastuti and instructed that it be chanted before and after the Vayustuti.
The present publication is the Malayalam translation of a Sanskrit manuscript on Vayustuti available in the Manuscript (Palmleaf) Repository of this Institute. This manuscript contains the Text of the Vayustuti and the Suvarnamanjari Commentary of Kantara Rama which is found to be the oldest. The Transcription and Editing of this rare manuscript was done by Dr. V. Srinidhi and the book was published by this Institute.
The book is blessed with the Ashirvachan of our Chief Patron and Dharma Guru H.H. Shrimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji. The book was released at the lotus hands of Swamiji today at CTD, Kochi.
 
GURUVACHANASUDHA (Konkani Shatakam)
Composed by Sahitya Akademi Award winning Konkani poet Sri. Saratchandra Shenoi.
In this composition the the guidelines of His Holiness Shrimad Sudhindra Tirtha Swamiji are compiled and presented in poetry. The book also was released at the lotus hands of Swamiji today at CTD, Kochi.

CELEBRATES GOLDEN JUBILEE

BOOK RELEASE AT KOCHI INTERNATIONAL BOOK FESTIVAL 2019

At a function held at the Main Venue of Kochi International Book Festival 2019, Ernakulathappan Ground, Ernakulam on 2nd December 2019, the book ‘Vedanta and the Modern World and Other Indological Essays‘ by Dr. V. Nithyanantha Bhat (Hon. Director, Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, Kochi – 32) was released by eminent thinker and orator Sri. R. Hari. The book is published by Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, Kochi – 32.
Prof. R.V. Kilikar (President, Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, Kochi – 32) presided over the function. Dr. G. Chandrasekhara Prabhu welcomed the gathering. Eminent Sanskrit scholar, Dr. G. Gangadharan Nair, who received the first copy of the book, gave Felicitation. Dr. V. Nithyanantha Bhat (Hon. Director, Sukrtindra Oriental  Research Institute, Kochi – 32) delivered Vote of Thanks.

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON KONKANI CULTURAL HERITAGE

The National Seminar was jointly organized by Konkani Adhyayana Peetha of Mangalore University and Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, Kochi, on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

It was inaugurated by Padmasri N. Purushothama Mallaya. Dr. V. Nithyanantha Bhat, Hon. Director of the Institute, welcomed the gathering. Prof. R. V. Kilikar, President of the Institute, presided. The Chief Guest was Dr. Jayavantha Nayak, Co-ordinator of Konkani Adhyayana Peetha, Mangalore University. Introductory remarks were by Sri. Payyanur Ramesh Pai and Sri. R. Ratnakara Shenoi delivered the Vote of thanks.

Thereafter in four Sessions, eight papers were presented respectively by Dr. B. Devadasa Pai, Sri. R. S. Bhaskar, Sri. Paul Moras, Smt. Hema Devi B., Dr. Sandhya Pai, Dr. Aravind C. Shanbhag and Dr. G. Nagendra Prabhu on a variety of topics like History and Development of Konkani Language, Konkani Literature, Cultural Identity of  Konkani People, Scientific Aspects of Konkani Cuisine, Contribution of  Konkani people to National Development and Notable aspects of rituals in Konkani Temples. The sessions were moderated by Prof. N. Prabhakara Prabhu, Dr. Edward Edezhath, Dr. Pratima Asher and Sri. S. Ramakrishna Kini.

The Valedictory Session was chaired by Adv. R Lakshminarayana Prabhu, in which Sri. Saratchandra Shenoi delivered the Valedictory address. Sri. H. Viswanatha Bhat welcomed the gathering and Dr. G. Chandrasekhara Prabhu delivered the Vote of thanks. The Seminar was attended by a host of delegates from Kerala and Karnataka.

Memorandum of Understanding with Govt. Sanskrit College Tripunithura

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute and Govt. Sanskrit College Tripunithura for co-operation in the fields of mutual interest. The function took place at the college. Prof. R. V. Kilikar, President, Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, Prof. K. D. Shoba, Principal, Govt. Sanskrit College, Dr. V. Nithyanantha Bhat, Director, Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, Dr. G. Gangadharan Nair, Dr. P.V. Ajikumar, and Dr. V. P. Udayakumar spoke on the occasion. Dr. V. Nithyanantha Bhat (Hon. Director) signed on behalf of Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute and Prof. K. D. Shoba (Principal) signed on behalf of the Sanskrit College.

GURUSMRITI: Tributes to H.H. Shrimad Sudhindra Tirtha Swamiji

SUKRTINDRA ORIENTAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE is bringing out this special volume, which is an anthology of articles written by a few disciples of H.H. Shrimad Sudhindra Tirtha Swamiji as their tributes to Him. All these articles are reflections of Swamijiâ’s sacrifice for the sake of uplifting the community in all spheres of life – spiritual, religious, social and cultural. They throw light on the invaluable contributions of Swamiji towards the overall prosperity of His disciples. We have great pleasure to offer these tributes as our Guru Kanikya at the Lotus Feet of our Swamiji on the occasion of His first Punya Tithi.
The book was released on 5.1.2017 at Haridwar at the Lotus hands of Shrimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji, Mathadhipati, Shri Kashi Math Samsthan, Varanasi.

 

Memorandum of Understanding with S. D. College, Alappuzha

A Memorandum of Understanding has been sighed between the Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute and S. D. College, Alappuzha for co-operation in the fields of mutual interest. The initiative aims at providing a conceptual framework to facilitate collaboration in research in Sanskrit, Indology and related subjects, conduct of Seminars, Workshops, Symposia and publication of books. The function took place at the college and was attended by Prof. R.V. Kilikar (President, S.O.R.Institute) Dr. V. Nithyanantha Bhat (Director, S.O.R.Institute) Sri. J. Krishnan (Manager, S.D. Book Release Function of ‘GURUVACHANAMRIT’ (English renderings of the Discourses of H. H. SRIMAD SUDHINDRA TIRTHA SWAMIJI) was held on 01.11.2015, Sunday at Sree Sukrtindra Hall of the Institute.

Sri. R. Hari was the Chief Guest of the function, who released the prestigious publication and also delivered the keynote address. The first copy was received by Sri. Payyanur Ramesh Pai.

Prof. R.V. Kilikar, President of the Governing Council of the Institute, presided. Prof. N. Prabhakara Prabhu, Vice-president of the Governing Council, read out the benedictory messages of the Swamijis. Honorary Director of the Institute, Dr. V. Nithyanantha Bhat did the introductory and welcomed the gathering. Sri. R. Ratnakara Shenoi, Secretary, presented the vote of thanks. Felicitation speeches were made by Sri. P. Rangadasa Prabhu, Sri. Payyanur Ramesh Pai, Sri. K.S. Ramachandra Pai, Sri. V. Lakshmana Prabhu, etc. Sri. G. Chandrasekhara Prabhu, Asst. Secretary, anchored the function.

The book is brought out in connection with the Navati Celebration of H H Srimad Sudhindra Tirtha Swamiji, Head of Sree Kashi Math Samsthan, Varanasi, who is the Founder and Chief Patron of this Institution. This is an invaluable volume containing the English version of the Divine Discourses of Swamiji titled GURUVACHANAMRIT. The translation into English has been done by a group of devotees. This volume would be of benefit to all.

In connection with the Navati Celebration of H H Srimad Sudhindra Tirtha Swamiji, Head of Sree Kashi Math Samsthan, Varanasi, who is the Founder and Chief Patron of this Institution, we organized a two-day NATIONAL SEMINAR on 23 & 24 May 2015 at the Sree Sukrtindra Hall of the Institute. This signature event was auspiciously inaugurated at the divine hands of Srimad Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji, Pattasishya of the Mathadhipati.
